So-and-so leads to so-and-so lead to X photo. But Faulkner is suis generis, with no obvious roots or influences that i can detect. His photos appear from outer space."

In many ways, The Blue Box is a Portland, Oregon book. Mostly chosen from prints taken between 2000 and 2004, Andrews calls the collection "a portrait of [Faulkner's] home city and it's blackberried tangle of placards, Buicks, and dive bars...stocked with thrift stores and analog lovers."
